After being launched globally back in September last year, Amazon has today introduced the Amazon Echo Show 8, in India. The all-new Echo Show 8 is the latest addition to the company’s smart speaker lineup, and it features an 8-inch HD screen with stereo sound, along with an entire suite of Alexa capabilities.
The Amazon Echo Show 8, similar to other Echo devices, comes with a touch-screen display on top. This time, it is an 8-inch screen with HD resolution, in addition to stereo sound for a better audio experience in any room. The display allows you to watch TV shows, movies, play music with lyrics, view weather updates, or even control your smart home. At its core, the device has a MediaTek MT 8163 processor running under the hood for all the processing, with support for dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (A2DP). Further, it includes a 1MP camera on the front for video calling, which can be turned off with the help of the built-in mic/camera off button, to control your privacy. Besides, the smart speaker also comes with a 3.5mm audio jack, volume up/down button, camera shutter, and a mic/camera off button.
As for its capabilities, the Amazon Echo Show 8 offers a wide range of features and skills to make your life easier. For starters, it allows you to do basic things like weather updates, news updates, sports scores, create calendar events and reminders, along with the ability to cook using step-by-step recipes, and more. Not to mention, the ability to watch HD content on Amazon Prime Video and the added support for music-streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Music, Apple Music, JioSaavn, Gaana, etc. Among other things, the smart speaker can be used to control compatible smart home devices with easy hands-free control. So you can control your smart lights, view security cameras, and also use Alexa to switch on the geyser or AC using smart plugs.
Similar to other Echo Show devices, the Echo Show 8 also takes user privacy into consideration, and as already mentioned earlier, it comes with a mic/camera off — that electronically disconnects the microphones and camera and a built-in shutter — to cover the camera.
Amazon Echo Show 8: Pricing and Availability
The all-new Amazon Echo Show 8 comes in two colors: Black and White, priced at Rs 12,999. It is currently up for pre-order on Amazon India and will go on sale starting February 26. As a limited period launch offer, the device will be available for a price of Rs 8,999.
