After diversifying its smartphone lineup with the launch of Nord to bring the OnePlus experience down to a relatively lower price point, the company is now stepping into the wearable game with the announcement of its first fitness band. Called the OnePlus Band, the smart band marks OnePlus’ foray into the wearables segment and comes with an AMOLED display, blood-oxygen sensor, optical heart-rate sensor, and different exercise modes, among others.
The OnePlus Band features what the company refers to as an active design, with an IP68 (and 5ATM) rating that keeps it protected from exposure to dust and water. It has a detachable tracker module that allows for customization and makes it easier for you to switch between different straps. Upfront, there is a 1.1-inch AMOLED display — a colored one with a screen resolution of 126 x 294 pixels. It is available in three color options: black, navy, and tangerine gray.
Talking about what’s inside, the OnePlus Band comes equipped with a blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) sensor to give you a measure of the amount of oxygen saturation in the blood. It also allows you to track and analyze your sleeping patterns and combine that with the SpO2 monitoring to get a more comprehensive view of your health. Besides this, the smart band provides real-time heart-rate monitoring, much like most of the fitness trackers out there, to give you real-time insight into your heart rate, with options for personalized heart-rate alerts and notifications for irregular readings. Being a fitness tracker, the smart band also comes with 13 different exercise modes such as outdoor run, indoor run, elliptical trainer, cricket, yoga, swimming, and more, to help you track your workouts and activities.
The OnePlus Band utilizes Bluetooth 5.0 (BLE) for connectivity and supports both Android (v6.0 and above) and iOS devices. When connected, it promises to offers features like smart notifications, music controls, and camera controls. OnePlus also has a companion app for its smart band that allows customization options and insights into health data. However, as of now, it is only available on Android. The band packs in a 100mAh battery, which, as per the company, offers up to 14 days of battery life on a single charge. As for charging, it charges using a charging dongle with a USB-A interface.
OnePlus Band: Pricing and Availability
The OnePlus Band is priced at Rs 2499. It will be available starting January 13 on Amazon, Flipkart, and OnePlus’ official website.
